What is Chiropractic?
To understand Chiropractic, we need to have a bit of knowledge of our human anatomy. Our brain controls all functions by communicating with our bodies through our nervous systems. Our nervous systems include our central nervous system, autonomic and peripheral nervous systems, all transmitting information coordinated by our brain. These nervous systems relay information to all areas of our body and maintain function of all organs, blood flow, respiration, movements, assimilation of all nutrients for energy and a multitude of other functions. All of these functions happen due to uninterrupted flow of neurons from the brain through the spinal cord, to all areas of our body. When an interference in the flow of information happens due to a variety of factors, function ceases to be normal. One of the ways this interference occurs is by compression of the spinal cord and peripheral nerves. The spinal cord and peripheral nerves are housed in the spinal column. Imbalance or dysfunction in the alignment of the spine causes compression and therefore reduced function in many areas of the body. Pain can be a signal used by our body to alert us that an imbalance exists. Chiropractic specializes in detecting these spinal distortions and correcting them through specific, gentle manipulative procedures most commonly known as a spinal adjustment. Removing this distortion and restoring balance (homeostasis) allows the nervous systems to regain normal function thereby allowing the body to heal itself. The body will heal itself if given the opportunity. Other factors are also necessary in this process such as nutrition, lifestyle, stress management, exercise just to name a few. A comprehensive review of your symptoms and thorough examination by Dr. Esposito will identify the possible causes of your condition and then determine if Chiropractic is an appropriate modality of treatment to restore your health and wellness. When all systems of the body are functioning in harmony we can express our full potential as human beings and thereby live a healthy life. Our bodies are immensely powerful, resilient and regenerative. When we engage in healthy lifestyle practices, we have no limit to how healthywe can be. How healthy can YOU be??

Why might I need a spinal adjustment
When vertebrae shift out of place, there is a systemic response from the muscular system to the central nervous system. Without proper alignment and flow, our nerves, our immune system, and our minds cannot function at their highest peak. Overall, spinal adjustments and manipulations are an excellent way to keep the body functioning at its highest level without any discomfort. When the body is adequately aligned, it becomes able to respond and perform optimally as it was built to do.
